What's Access & Access Control -
Access control refers to the practice of restricting access to resources, systems, or information to authorized users or processes. It is a security measure used to ensure that only authorized individuals or entities are able to access specific resources while preventing unauthorized access or malicious activities.
Normally Access means entering or reaching a place, but when we say Access Control that means it's still available to Access, but it's being controlled for some reason and it's not accessible for everyone only the authorized person can now. Ultimately if a person is allowed he/she will gain access else it will be denied.
Just like at our homes we use a Physical key and Lock to control access, so yes Physical keys and Locks are also a part of access control.
So yes we can say, access control is the protocol that restricts/allows selected persons to protect a place/premises/area.
Where & Why Access Control is Required -
Access control can be implemented in a variety of ways, such as through passwords, encryption, biometric authentication, access control lists, firewalls, and other security mechanisms. These controls are designed to enforce policies that govern who is allowed to access specific resources, what actions they are allowed to perform, and under what conditions.
So yes for any place from any industry where it requires some authorization to enter/exit, or you can say to Gain or Restricts access, Access Control is required.
Access control is an important aspect of cybersecurity and is used to protect a wide range of resources, including computer systems, networks, physical facilities, and data. It is an essential component of any comprehensive security strategy and helps organizations to minimize the risk of unauthorized access and data breaches.
Usually, access is controlled by 3 significant terms Identify, Verify and Authenticate.
The first step is to identify who is accessing and then Verify the individual to ensure they have the correct permissions the Authenticate and Grant/Deny access.
Access control aims to minimize the security risk of unauthorized access to physical and logical systems. Access control keeps confidential information such as customer data, personally identifiable information, and intellectual property from falling into the wrong hands. It’s a key component of the modern zero-trust security framework, which uses various mechanisms to continuously verify access.
That's why in Any place from any industry where it requires some authorization to enter, Access Control is a must.
What are the Access Control Credentials -
In Access control Access Credentials are the main, it's unique authentication method for individuals, it means the combination of unique identifiers, it can be…
